Previous Project Spotlight: Tile and Copper Metal Roof

When it comes to roof repairs and replacements, attention to detail and quality craftsmanship go a long way, and this roof project we worked on was no exception. For this residential property, we replaced concrete tile roofing with a tile and copper metal roof for added durability and curb appeal. 

 

 

THE PROCESS 

Since wood decking is the foundation of roofing systems, it is always crucial to ensure this material is in good condition before installing a new roof. One of the first things we did for this project, then, was to demolish the existing concrete roof to expose the wood deck substrate. This step allowed us to properly inspect the wood decking and other substrates for any rotting or other issues and repair them before we installed the new roofing material. 

From there, we installed a high-temperature peel-and-stick membrane to the wood decking, which was ideal for making a smooth surface for the new Ironstone porcelain tile we laid on the main areas of the roof. We also installed a copper standing seam metal roof system at the smaller accent and canopy roof sections. 

For the rest of the roofing system, our team installed new copper flashings, gutters, downspouts, valleys, edge metals, transitions and counter flashings. We also replaced rotted cedar wood fascia and trim boards to secure the roofing system and improve the home’s overall curb appeal.
